DL-Phenylalanine comprises an equal combination of the essential amino acids D-Phenylalanine and L-Phenylalanine. DL-Phenylalanine is a high-purity nutritional supplement, food and beverage additive, and a key pharmaceutical ingredient. It is produced by racemizing acetyl-L-phenylalanine under alkaline conditions, followed by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid to remove the acetyl group. The product is then refined and neutralized to achieve a purity of up to 99%.
